Last Wednesday, I rejoined Weight Watchers. I had lost my lifetime status after neglecting to weigh-in for several months. I have a closet full of clothes that won’t go up my thighs and every morning I struggle with finding something to fit. So I finally gave up and dragged my tubby butt back to WW to get myself back in gear. This time I took my husband with me. He kindly agreed to join with me so I could have accountability which made me very happy. So my starting weight was 167.5! Yeah I gained everything I lost back! I was so devastated! I struggled all week to stay within my points but I survived my first week. I also made myself exercise for 30 minutes everyday this past week. Me and Catherine went for walks everyday and some days we even walked twice which gave ma a total of an hour of walking. And it paid off! I lost 4.4 pounds today at my weigh-in! Rich lost 4 and I was so proud of us. We even had cheesecake on his birthday and so I was a little worried.

I will be updating my blog more often now and I will also post our weight loss results. I am also trying out my new Biggest Loser Game for the Wii this weekend and I will blog about it so you will know if its worth the money.

Yesterday I had to do my monthly weigh-in at Weight Watchers and just as I feared I had gained. I have had to pay two months in a row for being over my goal. I was so upset with myself that I even stayed for the meeting hoping to gain some motivation to get back on track. The Leader asked us to fill in the blanks for three statements: I first walked into the Weight Watchers door because…, I have gained….from achieving my goal, and Weight loss for life means…

Having to answer these questions reminded me that I worked too hard to reach my goal to just give up and go back to fat. I first walked through those Weight Watchers doors after seeing a picture of myself in a bathing suit that my mom took in Brazil. I remember staring at the picture in unbelief. I didn’t even recognize myself! After reaching my goal, I gained so much confidance. Not just in the way I look but I felt like I could accomplish anything! It motivated me to go back to school, and to move back to New Orleans. I even acheived my dream of running a 5K! And Weight Loss for Life means living healthy and one day teaching my children healthy eating habits from Day 1.

I write all of this to remind myself to keep going. My goal is to lose 3lbs by Ocotber 1. I can’t wait to blog telling you that I acheived that goal!

There are some things about living in New Orleans that drive me crazy. For instance, Walmart is hectic. You don’t just drive to Walmart when you need milk because it is too far away and they are not always stocked like in Pensacola. Also, the traffic is always busy and it can take you five minutes to get to your exit or one hour if there is a fender bender. The people at fast food places are not friendly and customer service is a foreign concept here. With that said, there are so many things I love about living here! One thing is that the best pizza place ever exist only in New Orleans, Slice. But my favorite thing is the parks. Between City Park and Audubon Park a person can always appreciate a nice sunny day. My favorite place at the moment is Audubon Park. It is located uptown and is absolutely beautiful! Rich and I have started going there on Saturday mornings and walking around the jogging track. Wednesday, I was off work for Mardi Gras holidays so Rich picked me up around 7 am and we drove to the park. It was my first time running there and it just happened to be a gorgeous day! Rich actually ran with me and he made about a mile with me. I surprised myself and ran two laps which is about 3.6 miles. I felt so accomplished! It was my first time running 3 miles since October! I am hoping the weather will stay “spring-like” so that we can continue our Saturday tradition! I love this park!!

I love October because everything revolves around candy. Particularly candy corn. I bought some candy corn from this really cute candy store on Magazine St. I ate the whole bag quite quickly! So someone, I won’t point any fingers, Rich, bought me a huge tub of candy corn. I was extremely excited but I am almost done with the tub and it has only been like two weeks. And to be funny, I guess, he bought me more and I finished that bag too! I am obsessed with that stuff! I put it in zip lock bags and eat it as I walk on campus, as I am at school, I even woke up craving it yesterday morning. To make it all better, I had to weigh in yesterday. I gained a pound. Yeah, a pound is really no big deal but I am pretty sure that it is from all of the “fat free” candy corn I have been eating. So Rich, when I loose my lifetime membership to Weight Watchers because of my candy corn addiction, you will pay! Good thing all the candy corn seems to disappear from the shelves sometime in November…So I only have to survive one more weigh in after inhaling a ton of candy corn!

So I had forgotten how humid it is here in New Orleans. It is pretty miserable. I think since the last time I lived here I didn’t actually hang-out outside much it didn’t bother me as much. Now I get up at 5:00 A.M. to run and I think it is actually killing me. Even before the sun comes out, I run for like 2 minutes and I look like I just took a shower. It is so gross. I am learning that I have to drink way more water here then when I lived in Pensacola. This morning, I only made 1 1/2 laps around campus and I thought I was going to die. And I am not exaggerating! My legs were like jello and I had cramps all over and I felt like I could barely walk. So I went into my room and laid on the cold tile. I had to lay there for about 20 minutes before I was able to get up. I hate it! For the first time in my life, I am excited about cooler weather. If you know me well, you know that I hate cold weather. I get cold so easy! But this year, I say Bring it on! Then maybe I can get back to my normal running.
