My First College Football Game

Let me start off with a Roll Tide! Just wanted you to know we aren’t traders;) I am still recovering from my busy weekend which is why I am just now sitting down to blog about my adventures. A family in our church has a son who plays in the marching band for LSU. A few weeks ago they invited us to join them for tailgating at the LSU/LA Tech game. So we woke up early Saturday morning and left at 7:30am for Baton Rouge. I didn’t know what tailgating was to be honest with you. I thought people drove around honking horns all day before the game. Yes, I was totally wrong. We set up a tent behind the truck and soon the whole parking lot was full of tents and everyone was cooking out and playing games. It was relaxing and I really enjoyed it. When we first got there, all I saw were porta potties and I sat there for about 20 minutes trying to avoid using them. Not that I would have lasted very long! But since we were with regular tailgaters, they showed me the clean bathrooms and then my day was wonderful! I got to go to the practice field, which was a real football field with astro turf inside, and watch the Tiger Band practice. Rich and I wanted  to run out on the field and play football but figured that would be a bad idea. Then we got to go to the basketball arena and we stood outside and watched the cheerleaders and the band run down the hill. The band was actually somewhat running while playing their instruments. It was really cool! Then we went inside to have the band play their music for us. Then we actually got to go to the game! I was so impressed with all of the cool traditions they had and I was amazed at how the band really got the fans excited with the LSU fight song. We had incrediable seats and I wish I would have brought my camera. It was such a great day!

On Monday, we drove back to Baton Rouge to see Tiger-rama. It was a full concert by the LSU band. They are really good and I was very impressed. Don’t worry, Rich and I are not being converted to LSU fans. We even were getting texts of the Alabama game while we were there. We didn’t wear any Roll Tide gear or talk about Alabama in Baton Rouge. Mainly because we would have been killed! LSU fans are brutal! They were even booing one of their own players! But I am now a Tiger Band fan, espelcially Leromy! Thank you Stilley family for including Rich and me in your festivities! We had a wonderful time and we are so proud of your son:) We will cheer for your band!
