Oh the ER..

I sent five hours in the emergency room yesterday. Yes, you read that correctly, FIVE hours! Friday night my throat started to hurt just a bit but I didn’t think anything of it. Saturday at 3:00 A.M, I was awakened to intense pain and I was burning up with fever. I think the highest for Saturday was 102.8. Most of you know that I am always cold. You usually find me under a blanket with socks and a long sleeve shirt on. Not this weekend. I had the fan turned on, eating ice-cream, and taking only cold showers. So Sunday morning I still had a fever and woke up again at 3:00 A.M. Because my insurance is La, I had to go the emergency room. It was so cold in the ER room that my whole body was shivering. Apparently I had sweated off my fever earlier that morning. Finally a nurse gave me a sheet to help. I spent 2 1/2 hours in that room. I was so hungry, cranky, and sleepy! I almost got out of my bed to go find a nurse when I heard my mom’s voice. She came back to find out if they had killed me or forgot about me.(Love her) And yes, they were looking for my chart…so dependable! 

I have strep throat. The bad part is that today was suppose to be my first day back at work since the evacuation. I was actually really looking forward to being back in NOLA in my regular routine. The Doctor told me I need to stay out of work for three days. That is forever! I was way too sick to even think about driving back yesterday. Now I am sitting in Pensacola, debating on wether I feel well enough to drive back today. I don’t have fever today. But I did wake up at 3:00 A.M. sweating again so I might have had fever during the night. I just want to go back to NOLA! I can see it now…I will leave tomorrow, go back to work Thursday, then Ike will kick us out again and I will have to do this all over again…sometimes life just whomps!
