Monthly Weigh-in = Motivation

Last Wednesday was my monthly weigh-in at Weight Watchers. WW requires me to weigh-in once a month and maintain my weight in order to stay a Lifetime Member. They even allow a two pound cushion. Well, I am currently under my goal by ten pounds so I don’t sweat the weigh-ins at all. And I wasn’t nervous about this weigh-in but I did gain half a pound. I know that half a pound is nothing to stress about but it did get me to evaluate my choices over the last several weeks. Over the last three weeks or so, I have become very lazy and just could not motivate myself to exercise. Before that I was running at least four days a week. But then I couldn’t get myself up in the morning and was slacking to about 1-2 days a week.

This laziness was very evident in the last two 5Ks I have ran. Finishing them was a struggle! And besides the whole exercise issue, I have been eating whatever I find. Things that I had usually limited myself to I was now indulging in. So this weigh-in reminded me that it is possible to gain weight again. My body has been acting so crazy because I think it was use to my healthier choices and is now rejecting the “crap”. I have figured out that I can eat 24-26 points and still maintain between 128 – 130. That is a lot of points so this shouldn’t ever be a problem! I thought that if I shared my struggles and goals with the world (or those few who read my blog) then maybe I would feel more accountable to exercising and making healthy choices. I encourage you to make a plan to accomplish whatever goal you have!

Here are my workout goals for the next couple of weeks.

Run 3.5 miles Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday; Run 4 miles Wednesday; Do the FIRM workout Monday, Tuesday, Thursday; Do The Core workout on Fridays; Do the Dancing With The Stars Workout on Saturdays; Do NOTHING on Sundays! Yes all of this means I have to get myself out of bed every morning!

I feel your pain. I understand how easy it is to let things start to slide and then the weight creeps back up. That’s why I’m determined right now to not let more than one day go by without working out. I also take Sundays off from working out, but if I start letting myself slide during the week, it’s too easy to get back in the funk. Keep up the good work, but don’t work too hard. I’m still trying to catch you in the 5k’s and you’re not making it easy. We have four weeks until the next one. Hopefully, I can close the gap a little more.

Be careful not to wear yourself out! Cross-training (i.e. exercise other than running) and rest days are just as important as running days. If you skip those, you’re more prone to injury, which then limits your ability to run at all. Just remember to take care of yourself!

Cross-training is what I do. I jog three days a week and swim the other three days. Mainly because I think if I were to jog everyday with 250lbs on my knees I think they would give out. :P

Hey Jen Jen, Don’t worry, everyone has a lull in their workouts. Mine has lasted for 3 years. Just keep plugging away. You look (and I know you feel) awesome!!
