Last night I was asked out in front of my mother. Yes, you read that correctly! We will call this man, the ballpark guy. The ballpark guy, came into the concession stand where me and my mother work every Monday. He has been lingering around in the concession stand over the past few weeks. Last night, he ordered and took a seat on the counter tops. I was honestly busy and was wishing he would go play so that we could get to work. Well, I told the ballpark guy that I thought it was time for his game to start. That is when I heard the “pick-up” line. He said, “So, do I have to wait until next week to see you again?” I think I managed to glance at my mother, who was standing right beside him, and then said, “What?” He then asked if I would like to go to the movies or something sometime with him. I could see my mother’s pain as she was forcefully holding back the laughter. I mumbled out something about being really busy right now and driving to New Orleans all without looking at him directly. Then I was saved by the game actually starting. When he walked out, my mom busted out laughing. She told me that this was the first time she ever got to hear a guy ask me on a date. I rolled my eyes and then I joined her laughing. After his game, I made sure that I sat between two of my friends and talked a lot so that I could avoid him. Tia and Karen, you are my heroes! After he left, my mother walked up to us snickering and told me that the ballpark guy came back into the concession stand and asked her questions about me, like if I was seeing anyone. Of course, she wouldn’t lie because of morals or something but she did try to avoid the whole conversation.
I am not sure that asking me out on a date in front of my mother or discussing your interest in me with her will get you a date. In fact, I can guarantee that it won’t. But I do appreciate the Ballpark guy for giving me a funny story that I will never forget!
Jen these offers dont come to often you might need to think about it!
Remeber the Check list:
Christian?
Money?
Healthy?
j/k I think that this is freakin funny!! I cannot believe he would ask such a question and then go on to ask more from mom!! Thanks for the laugh guy!!
I was thinking that as long as the Christian and Money thing are in order, the Healthy thing may not be so important. In fact, it might be better if he had some kind of terminal disease or something.
Just a thought.
Thanks for the comments guys…I am laughing pretty loudly! (As if I could laugh any other way)
So here I am sitting at work once again reading your blogs…. but this time I took Jake and Diana’s advice and I was wearing my sunglasses to hopefully muffle out some of the glare. But upon reading your latest blog, I had to take the glasses off to make sure I was reading what I was really seeing. haha!! Thanks for the laugh jenny and ballpark guy. So do I know who this ballpark guy is? Which team does he play on? You should aim for the guy with the nice pit bull out there. He’s seem like he’s a sweet kind hearted chiristian who may have some money!@! haha!! Well That was just a joke. But I can just see the look on your moms face when all this was going on. If only I could have been a fly on the wall!!!
BUZZ BUZZ!!!!
Theda, I wish I could see you sitting at your desk with your sunglasses on. I hope that at least you are wearing designer glasses so that the lawyers will take you serious! Yeah, you might would know the ballpark guy but I can’t reveal his name on my blog. You will have to wait until Friday for identity o the ballpark guy. The guy with the dog would have to be really wealthy to pay my allergy doctor bills since I am allergic to dogs…I think my check list is now getting longer…
Jen, I hope no one get offended by this blog.
@Theda – I agree with Jen, I wish I could see you sitting at your desk with those sunglasses on!

for the square ones.
Crap never mine it still will not work! Sorry.
I feel sorry for ballpark guy. Do you know how hard it is to ask a girl out? Ok, so he shouldn’t have done it in front of your mother, I’ll give you that. But, back in the day when I asked a girl out, if she wasn’t interested, I’d much rather her just say she wasn’t interested. When she did the “avoid” thing, it made it really awkward and I thought it was kind of insulting.
Sure, I know it’s not easy to tell someone you’re not interested, but it does get to the point. Right now he’s probably not sure what to think. Does he ask you again? Learn more pickup lines? Move on and ask Janine out? Buy you flowers? Flex his muscles? Do a tap dance for you? See, these are all the questions that are probably going through his mind right now. Trust me, it’s much better to just be direct and politely tell him you’re not interested if he asks again.
That is unless you secretly are interested and are too shy to admit it.
well the whole gravatar thing didnt work either… i signed up for it but there must be something wrong with their website. It didnt go through. but let me try the whole photobucket thing too….

Ok, so I have never had so many comments on one blog before! Theda, I am laughing not only at your picture but at the conversation you and my brother carried on throughout these comments. You are so entertaining! And Michael, you are right. I should have been more direct but I was so caught off guard! I am not interested but I think a tap dance would be really fun. And it would give me more to blog about…And Jen, I am glad you are laughing! I have been laughing all day too!
Yeah I was little confused at first about the JEN’s too. LOL So im back at work now. Time for another entertaining day!! Hope you all have a good one!!
