I guess it is safe to say that those “racy” pictures of Miley Cyrus draped over the lap of a boy and a little bra showing were actually her. I was hoping that it was a Miley look-alike. She confirmed that it was indeed her and that was a former boyfriend’s lap that she was laying on. I blame this on her just being a kid who got caught up in a moment and made a bad choice. My child psychology class has only proven to me that kids 11 – 16 are emotionally crazy and make bad choices sometimes. I am a little disappointed but understand that she is just a kid who is in a very public eye. There are consequences for our choices and boy is she feeling hers!
My main disappointment is with her family at the moment. I saw on GMA yesterday some pictures in Vanity Fair which look way to mature for her. I am sure you have all seen them by know. She is covered with a sheet and it looks like she is topless. She is only 15! Why would any photographer want to publish such a mature picture of a kid? Especially a kid whose whole career is centered around her wholesome reputation at the moment! What is more upsetting is that her parents are very involved in her career. I have admired how hard they have worked to keep her grounded and young. How does a parent allow such photos to be taken of their 15 year old daughter? I don’t know many fathers how would want a “mature” picture of their young daughter published for all the gross men to drool over! I wanted to cover the picture up when I saw it! According to the magazine, her parents were there with her! Surely they were aware of the final proofs. I don’t expect Miley to make a mature decision during a photo shoot of what is inappropriate but her parents should. She is young and I am sure was excited to be in Vanity Fair and I am also sure she felt very “sexy” during the photo shoot. That “sexy” feeling is something that many teenagers love to feel. They talk about it, listen to songs about it, and apparently take pictures of themselves trying to portray that feeling. That is why they all end up with awful pictures on the internet!
I will continue to be a Miley fan and will probably see her make many more mistakes during her career. God offers us grace and forgiveness whether we are celebrities or not. Some of our mistakes are just more public than others. I pray that she will continue trying to protect herself from falling into the many traps we have seen other young stars fall in. I also pray that her parents will be more cautious of what they expose her to.
I agree… Diana and I both have had our hopes set to high for Miley, and now this!
I think that vanity fair should get into some kind of trouble for publishing these kind of photos of a 15 year old. But her parents should have known that the photographer is know for racy photos, and should have made sure that this did not happen.
Anyways, I hope she learns and she keeps her mistakes to a minimal.
I agree that the parents should have stepped in here. The moment the photographer says, “Hey Miley, take your top off and wrap this blanket around you,” the parents should have immediately jumped in and said no. All they need to do is take a look at Britney and other female stars who started out innocently and would compromise here and there and you see how they ended up. It may seem all innocent now, but it ends up a mess. At least it appears that she realizes it was a mistake. I just hope the parents realize it was also their mistake. They’re supposed to protect her from stuff like this. Especially, when they were at the photo shoot.
